Party Princess
Hollywood Fringe Festival 2024 - Recipient of The Stagecrafts Spotlight Series Encore Performance
Making a return to theatre after 3 LONG YEARS, Skylar wrote, directed and solo produced Party Princess at Los Angeles’ largest independent theatre festival the Hollywood Fringe. Working alongside brilliant actor and fellow UMICH Alum, Amanda Kuo, they brought laughter, music, and a surprising amount of bubbles to the Los Angeles theatre scene!
About the play: Party Princess is a darkly funny one woman play about a disillusioned birthday party princess hurtling rapidly towards the end of her rope. One day she shows up to a gig dressed in the wrong costume and all hell breaks loose when the kids beg her for the real story of the little mermaid, a story that just might hit a little too close to home. Party Princess explores the implications of the “Disney branded fairytale” and the effect those implications have on society, particularly young girls. This play asks what lessons we should be teaching our children, and if we should still be encouraging them to wish on stars and dream of becoming part of OUR world.
